Recently, I had the pleasure of sharing my personal journey at NFT NYC speakers stage with two incredible women, Adriana Krawcewicz and Shreya Bhan. Together, we discussed the importance of supporting females in business and how Web 3 has created an environment that fosters collaboration, co-creation, and empowerment.
The fashion industry has long been associated with women, from the runways to the design studios. However, all the statistics have shed light on a concerning gender disparity in the top echelons of the industry. According to data collected from top fashion schools, over 85% of majors are female. This suggests a significant interest in fashion design and related fields among women. Yet, despite this, only around 14% of the top 50 major fashion brands are run by women.
This discrepancy raises important questions about the barriers that women face in reaching leadership positions in the fashion industry. It is clear that talent and interest are not the issues, but rather systemic biases and discrimination may be at play.
For me, the transition from fashion to NFTs is not just a professional shift, it's a personal transformation. I believe in the power of the community and its ability to disrupt the traditional fashion industry. By embracing Web 3 principles and collaborating with other like-minded individuals, we can create a better future for ourselves and the planet.
We're all working towards the same vision and mindset. We all share the same values, and we're committed to building a safer, more equal future together. It's no longer just about my brand, it's about creating a collective impact that benefits everyone.
The traditional fashion industry doesn't have to be dominated by males, nor does it have to cause harm to the environment or animals. We have the power to change that, and I'm proud to be a part of that change. By embracing Web 3 principles and collaborating with other women, we can build a more sustainable and equitable industry for ourselves and for future generations.
